Portobello Road Gin Distillery was created by four friends, Ged, Jake, Paul & Tom, the bartenders who have always been into gin. During their bartender career, these folks collected a lot of interesting artifacts and knowledge about spirit drinks. They used to rent a place above one of the most famous bars in London – The Portobello Road.
In 2011 these good old friends came up with the idea to create a spot where people can learn about gin and taste it. That is how the Ginstitute appeared. This place became the home to a 30-litre alembic pot still, which was called Copernicus the Second.
The Portobello Road Bar is a place where their first gin was born. It took them nine months of search and experiments to create the final spirit. Portobello Road Gin is a blend of nine selected botanicals, which include juniper berries, orris, lemon peels, bitter orange peels, nutmeg, and cassia bark. The makers were aimed to create a rich and deep spirit that would complement and balance other spirits and modifiers in cocktails and mixed drinks.
And their gin was a success. Portobello Road Gin has shown itself to be an excellent spirit perfect for any drink and any occasion. Bartenders and gin fans all over the world love Portobello Road Gin for its versatile and deep character.
